    • Significant landmark of North Yorkshire is a national park North York Moors, founded in 1952. Its area is about 1500 square kilometers.

      Here is one of the largest arrays of heather marshes in the country, covering a third of the park. Dense forests, which are based on oaks, ash, birch and rowan, occupy 22% of its area. Here organized large-scale program of reforestation and conservation of rare and endangered representatives of flora and fauna, which are placed in the park. Also at the park there are historical monuments, including medieval castles and abbeys.
